Instructions

1. Put the cartridge on some paper towels in an area where you can tolerate a spill.

2. Peel off the top label.

3. Drill a hole at the end of the squiggly line as shown in the picture to the right.

4. Fill the syringe with 15ml. of black ink.

5. Very S-L-O-W-L-Y inject ink into the drilled hole.

6. When finished, leave the label off or replace the top label leaving the drilled hole exposed (this is a vent hole).

6. Replace the cartridge and run 1 - 3 cleaning cycles as per printer instructions.
Or print the following pages:

For best results, leave cartridge in printer for 8 hours after refilling so the ink can saturate the entire sponge.

Important notice:

  • Lexmark offers for sale two different versions of the same cartridge:
  • The regular version #14 is not refillable. It is the "Return Program" or "Prebate" cartridge. Supposedly, when you buy this cartridge you agree to return the empty cartridge to Lexmark. In return, Lexmark gives you roughly $5 off the retail list price of the cartridge.
  • The "A" version #14A can easily be refilled. However, the price of the cartridge is roughly $5 higher than the regular version, so most people unknowingly buy the regular version.
If you want to refill, you will need "A" version cartridges.

A Refill Kit should include Ink plus the following:
One 30cc Syringe
One Thumb Drill
